The Lightweight Cricket Camper Trailer

Lightweight Cricket Camper Trailer

This is a small camper trailer that has been gaining popularity over the years. The Cricket Overland has a dry weight of 2,000 lbs. It is so simple to tow around that it can easily be towed by a small, lightweight car. It allows up to 4 people to sleep in it which is great considering how small it looks from the outside. As far as practicality goes, this camper trailer is very simple and can house a basic kitchen that includes a sink, stove and perhaps a refrigerator. It can be towed easily by almost any vehicle . It can also be set up for off-grid living.

You will have the option of choosing between 2 models. One is the Trek and the other is the Camp. They both have a 120V water heater, a 3-way fridge, twin beds that convert to 2 singles and a table. The extras are what make them different.

The Trek model comes with an outdoor grill and storage locker for tools. Unfortunately it also has the noisiest A/C unit ever made, which is very unfortunate considering you'll be living in tight quarters. But this option can cost as little as $3000.

The Camp model includes window curtains and solar panels (which aren't really necessary). This option tends to cost about $7000 but does include an electric hot water heater, so you won't have to waste your time trying to boil your water in order to take a shower.

Exterior of the cricket camper

The exterior of the cricket camper is designed very nicely. The pop top when in use makes this camper trailer look bigger than it actually is. The exterior of the Cricket camper looks like a truck cap with a pop top attached to it. Kynar-Painted & UV Treated Aluminum Panels is used for the body of this camper. The bed of the Cricket camper is made out of a hardwood plywood. It's also vented for proper air circulation so you don't wake up all sweaty in the middle of the night because it was too hot while sleeping. Included trim and moulding makes it easy to customize any part of this camper to what ever look you prefer without having to pay an arm and a leg for it.

What are Cricket Camper Advantages and Disadvantages?

There is plenty of room in this camper for two people if they're willing to sleep in bunks. However, since it has a tight turning radius and large wheels that can handle any terrain with ease, it's also great for taking off on short solo adventures too. One of the biggest advantages of staying in a nice cozy trailer such as this one is that you'll be able to use your vehicle to its max potential while saving gas at the same time.

Easy to tow

Due to its lightweight and small size, you'll be able to tow it with virtually any vehicle. If you have a truck or SUV that's great for hauling heavy loads, then this is probably the best choice of campers out there for you. When there are other trailers in the marketplace that weigh around 1,000 pounds and take up tons of space in your trunk or behind your seats, these types of things can make a huge difference in how much you enjoy your time spent outdoors. The car-like handling ensures that no matter what kind of terrain there may be on your journey, you won't have to worry about getting stuck or having stability issues when cornering at high speed.

Easy storage options

Since this is one light camper, every inch counts as far as storage is concerned. The manufacturer has made it clear with the design that this is to be used as a camper, not permanently mounted in the bed of your truck. This means that when you are done camping for the day or week, you can put it up on its wheels and store it at home until your next adventure outdoors.

By taking this type of approach, you can now plan an entire vacation around hitting multiple campgrounds along the way instead of just pulling off into a rest stop to sleep for the night like some people would have done before now. It also makes things better because now you don't have to worry about breaking down far away from wherever there happened to be cell phone service or even access to roadside assistance trucks if something were to go wrong.

Stay Cool Easy

With the optional 5,000 BTU Air Conditioner, the Cricket keeps you cool even on the hottest summer days and nights. Thanks to its unique Reflectix™ insulation, the AC draws less than 1 amp, a value that can be compared to LED lights. Also, the unit is ultra-quiet so everyone in the family will be able to enjoy their sleep no matter how hot it gets outside of your camper.

Room to Sleep, eat and Relax

The Cricket Camper provides enough room for sleeping. The second bed is a comfortable 55 x 20 inches and can also be used as an additional seat during the day.

The camper has several storage areas with many lids and draws to keep your things organized. The kitchen provides one large shelf, two deep drawers and two shallow drawers that are all covered by the removable table top for easy access. This lets you put things away quickly while preparing meals or eating. For even more storage there is a 12v outlet in the front of the trailer and another one inside where you can plug in small appliances for charging on long trips.

How much does a taxa Cricket weigh?

These are some of the smallest travel trailers on the market. They weigh in at a mere 1450 lbs or 610 kg. To put things in perspective, a 2022 Mini Cooper weighs 3,144 lbs. This is one of the reasons why these trailers are so easy to tow by almost any type of car.
